Can we improve balance?
As we age, it is natural to notice some changes in our balance. Many of us find ourselves wondering if we are able to improve our balance. Balance is not only impacted by our muscles and flexibility it is also impacted by our vision and our body awareness. Poor balance can lead to falls and further injuries. Pilates is a great form of exercise to help improve your balance. In order to have good balance, you have to have good movement in your ankles and in your hips as well as a strong core. A physical therapist can perform a variety of balance tests during an evaluation in order to find your specific limitations. Once you better understand your limitations, physical therapy can help focus on improving your balance.
