Pilates and Pregnancy.
Exercising is an important part of maintaining a healthy body throughout pregnancy. However, the body is undergoing many changes and modifications are important for the safety of you and your unborn baby. Pilates is not only an excellent way to stay fit while you’re pregnant, but it is also a great way to prepare your body for the up and coming changes it will incur.
How will Pilates Help me throughout my Pregnancy?
- Pilates will strengthen the muscles in your tummy. Having stronger stomach muscles will help you manage the strains of the extra weight put on by your baby.
- Lesson back pain. Many women experience back pain throughout their pregnancy due to the added weight in their bellies. Pilates will strengthen the deep muscles that help support your spine which in turn, will help to alleviate your back pain.
- Increase your sense of balance. You may tend to feel a little wobbly as your baby bump continues to grow. Pilates exercises will strengthen your core to help you feel more steady.
- Controlled breathing. Pilates teaches you how to connect your breath with your movement. This will help you to control your breathing and relax – which is very important for labor.
