we not only talk the talk, we walk the walk

A few things I never thought I would have 20 years ago – my own business, two kids, a trampoline and a mini-van (yes, a mini-van!).  As hard as it is for me to believe, my husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in April, and I have spent the month taking it all in.

One of the main topics I’ve been observing this month is how people handle Physical Activity and Stress Awareness.  Since my mind has been wrapped around weddings I  asked each of our staff members “How long have you been married?”  The answers: 31 years, 29 years, 21 years, 20 years (me), 11 years, 9 years, 8 years, 5 years, 3 years, 10 months, and 6 months.  These answers both amazed me and brightened my heart.  To me, seeing every one of our staff members in these healthy relationships is an immediate indicator that we not only talk the talk, we walk the walk – we use physical wellness to conquer our stress.

We not only love how pilates makes us feel, we are also cross trainers in the very sense of the word.  At any time you’ll find our staff walking, running, cycling, swimming, cross-fitting, and/or doing yoga.  I know we are a small sampling of folks, but we believe physical activity can conquer your daily stressors of life and make you happier and healthier from the inside out.   With this in mind, we would like to share with you our top 7 tips to allow your next Pilates class to help manage your stress:

Do what you love – You know you love pilates!  Find that love from the very moment you walk through our front door.

Stick with it – In the “insta” world we live in, keep in mind in the pilates world “In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 you’ll see the difference, in 30 you’ll have a new body.” – Joseph Pilates

Breathe Deeply – Through every single exercise.

Be Present – Take this one hour of time for YOU.  It will allow you to be a better person and have more to give to others for the rest of your day.

Tune in to your body – You are the only one who gets to live in your healthy body every day.  Notice it.  Pay attention to its needs.

Laugh out loud – I LOVE hearing laughter in our studio.  It’s an instant stress reliever!  Have fun, and never take yourself too seriously.

Be grateful – For your healthy body that brought you to class today.  It’s the only body you have, treat it with love.
